Tributes to Lynott on his 60th birthday

Phil Lynott.
Phil Lynott.

On what would have been Phil Lynott's 60th birthday, Thin Lizzy have paid tribute to the late frontman.

Guitarist Scott Gorham has issued the following tribute:

"Man, you don't realize how quick the years have gone until someone reminds you that Phil would have been 60 this year.

"He had such a huge impact on so many people around the world, I know he did with everyone that played in Thin Lizzy. To this day he is still missed by all of us."

Paul Anthony was the last radio presenter to interview Lynott in late 1985, before he died of heart failure on January 4, 1986.

I took my wife in September for her 40th birthday to Dublin for a couple of days. she was over the moon as she was able to see Phils statue and have her pic taken next to it.

I too am a lizzy fan but never forgave him jokingly for doing war of the worlds! that bloody album has haunted me for the past 30 years!!!!! (parents used to use it a punishement, nice of them!)

Then on the last day promised I would take her to see his grave in Howth and naturally i got lost ( I am a courier driver) and drove past this lady walking her dog and it was half a mile up the road when I realised it was phils mum, ******!!!

After my wife went to say a few prayers at the Church there and got directions we made it to the graveyard and i could see she was very moved by it and left a little trinket on his grave, her hair band (don't ask me why a hair band!!!) and we left for the airport

Something very strange happened! and i swear this is the truth, we got into the departure lounge at Dublin and she looked down at where her bag was and on top of the bag was... a black hair band on top of it!

I intend to take her back next year as she found out her grandparents are buried in st fintans too. such an amazing place and i recommend everyone to go to Dublin at least once, you will not be disappointed especially the beer in the Brussels bar behind phils statue.
