Luke looks ahead as Thunder passes

Thunder guitarist Luke Morley has announced details of what he’ll be doing after the band splits up next week.
The British rock mainstays are calling time on their 20-year career after one last UK tour, starting tomorrow night in Glasgow. One of the main reasons for the split is singer Danny Bowes’ desire to pursue his career as a booking agent. But Morley, for one, has already started work on a new musical project.
He tells Classic Rock Magazine: “Danny has three children nearing university age and I think he wants a sense of stability in his life for a while. His cup was overflowing a bit so he had to make a decision.
“Danny is a great singer – but he doesn’t create the music. Maybe his bond with it isn’t as strong as it is for me. But I think he’ll do well as an agent. He took care of a lot of stuff for us – he knows the ropes.”
After Thunder, Morley will work full-time on a new band with former Winterville guitarist Pete Shoulder, and he says one other band member will be a reasonably well-known name.
He says: “I feel a bit odd talking about what might happen after the Thunder tour.
“But I’m writing some songs with Pete, who’s a great musician, an amazing talent. We’ve written a few things that seemed to come together really well. I reckon we’ve got five or six songs so far.
“It’s rocky, bluesy – perhaps a bit more epic than the Thunder stuff, a bit more widescreen. I think people who like Thunder will like it.”
