Hackett: New LP as good as early Genesis

Former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett says his upcoming album is comparable with the band's early masterpiece, Selling England by the Pound - and he says he'd love a Genesis reunion.

In an interview with Prog Blog writer Martin Haggarty, Hackett explains his upcoming opus is one of the three releases he's most proud of.

He says: "Selling England by the Pound is may favourite Genesis album. I felt my playing came into its own when we were combining influences such as fusion, folk and electric mayhem on one record.

"I've always had a soft spot for Spectral Mornings, the first album from my own band, which I felt had a unique atmosphere.

"The album I'm currently working on particularly excites me - it combines not just standard rock instrumentation, but also Chapman stick, gypsy violin, electric sitar, sax and flute.

"I love the work we did with Genesis way back when. The guys can always count on me for a reunion."
