Jet star collapses on stage twice

Jet: Twice the band Aerosmith are?
Jet: Twice the band Aerosmith are?

Jet singer Nic Cester collapsed on stage last night in London – twicem, outshining Steven Tyler’s Aerosmith accident last week.

The Australian frontman had been complaining of illness all day ahead of the Hard Rock Café gig, but said he didn’t want to let fans down.

The band only managed the first two songs of the show before Cester fainted at the mic. He managed to get up and joked with the audience he was suffering from swine flu – but soon afterwards he collapsed again.

He was helped off stage by crew and was taken to hospital for checks, while the rest of Jet played the three more numbers. Doctors kept him in overnight for monitoring but believe he’s just suffering from a stomach bug.

Meanwhile, Joe Perry of Aerosmith has been reflecting on the band’s situation – but doesn’t believe their spate of bad luck and health problems means they should call it a day.

He says: “I think the band has to look at what it takes to do this gracefully. But there’s no reason we can’t keep playing until we can’t walk.

“You have to know you can’t do certain things any more. You can’t do somersaults on stage or swing from ropes. But there are other things you can do that are just as entertaining, like sing, play and put on a good show.”
