Thin Lizzy cancel AC/DC support slot

After cancelling a number of recent festival and tour shows, Thin Lizzy have been forced to drop out of their support slot with AC/DC on their three UK tour dates.
Drummer Tommy Aldridge broke his collarbone in a cycling accident but had been hoping to recover in time for the Black Ice tour gigs. Lizzy had already cancelled appearances at Spain’s Kobetasonik Festival, Liverpool Academy and Nottingham Rock City.
But Aldridge’s continuing struggle for fitness means they've now dropped their special guest spots at London on Friday, Dublin on Sunday and Glasgow on Tuesday.
The band’s guitarists, Scott Gorham and John Sykes, say in a statement: “We were hoping to play the forthcoming shows but after practice sessions it became apparent a decision had to be made.”
Gorham adds: “We’ve been looking forward to touring with AC/DC for the past few months so this is a terrible blow.
“But accidents happen. I hope our fans will understand, and we look forward to playing later in the years when Tommy recovers.”
Irish promoters MCD report Lizzy will be replaced by Irish band the Blizzards on Saturday. The Answer will kick off at 5pm, followed by the Blizzards at 6.30 and AC/DC at 8.30.
Announcements are pending regarding the other UK shows.
