Bon Scott on Bon Scott

On the night of February 19, 1980, Bon Scott blacked out in the back of a car in London after another marathon party. He died in his sleep aged 33. The AC/DC singer is remembered as true rocker, small in stature but larger than life. Here we look at some of the things he said about himself during his short time as a big star.
Bon on his formative years
"My flat was raided for pornographic photos - but they were just tasteful shots of me and a chick. I told the sergeant on the desk, 'I bet you'll show them to every bloke on the force' and he said, 'Oh no - they go no further than me'. Half an hour later I was waiting in the canteen and some cops filed through, and one of them said, 'So you're the stud'..."
Bon on joining AC/DC
"The first gig I was with them, there were a dozen guys in front of the stage shouting, 'Hey, come down here you faggots,' and Angus walks up to the edge of the stage and screams at them: 'Go and get f•cked!'. I was already looking for the mike stand, ready for the onslaught. It happens all the time - especially with the school uniforms."
Bon on what it takes
"It's a pretty rare type of bloke who'll fit in our band. He has to be under five feet six, and has to be able to play pretty well."
Bon on his lyrics
"They aren't poetry, that's for sure - I don't write about flowers and trees, do I?"
Bon on his partying
"I like to put my feet up - not to mention other parts of my body. They say to me, 'Are you AC or DC?' And I say, 'Neither - I'm the lightning flash in the middle'."
