Kelly and Richard of the Stereophonics took over Rock Radio to present a selection of tracks which influenced them in their early career. Here's what they played - and what they said.

Temple of the Dog: Say Hello to Heaven
K: That was one of the album we were listening to when we started the band. It was made by Chris Cornell and what was about to become Pearl Jam.
R: We listened to a alot of grunge. What'll we play next?
K: Pearl Jam, I suppose...
R: Yeah, good link.
K: We've probably covered all of these.

Pearl Jam: Alive

AC/DC: Down Payment Blues
K: Another song we were covering in beer gardens across the South Wales valleys, which was a very glamourous period in our lives. Get yourself a cone out the fridge because the next song is by Nirvana...

Nirvana: In Bloom

Blind Melon: No Rain
R: It was one of my favourite bands at the time when we were doing covers, then later we mixed an album with Andy Wallace who'd done that album.
K: Nice man - he looks a bit like the bloke who makes fish fingers.
R: Captiain Birdseye. And he's on the front of the album eating soup.
K: Speaking of beards we should play a bit of ZZ Top.

ZZ Top: Waiting For the Bus
Four Horsemen: Rockin is Ma Business
K: Frank Starr. He was a man, wasn't he?
R: God bless him.
K: God bless him. He's passed away. The next song is by the Lemonheads - we used to do a cover version of Rudderless. Even Dando ended up coming into our dressing room one night with a big wooly jumper on, paralytic, dancing to AC/DC's Highway to Hell. So there you go.

Lemonheads: Rudderless

Red Hot Chili Peppers: Scar Tissue
K: We were very lucky to tour with them and we got to know the drummer, Chad. Only him, really - the other lot were in the dressing room. Chad used to come on stage and play the drumkit behind Stuart. He's got extremely big arms! Highway to Hell was on in our dressing room one night and he came in. He was having a good time then his tour manager came in to tell us to turn the music down, not realising it was Chad who'd turned it up. He flipped out, literally tore the door off its hinges and broke it in half over his knee! When we came back from the toilet there was an accountant and a bloke sweeping up... So I wouldn't mess about with Chad.

Stereophonics: Innocent
R: It was good crack recording this album in two brand-new studios for us.
