Joe Perry of Aerosmith has confirmed Aerosmith will not split up, despite Steven Tyler's departure. He says: "We're positively looking for a new singer. You can't take 40 years of experience and throw it in the bin." Earlier he told Boston’s WZLX 100.7 radio station about the band's communication breakdown: “Steven was in his own dressing room, he stayed in different hotels from us and he travelled on different planes. We never saw him until we walked on stage. I called him when we were in Hawaii because we’d been offered some gigs – he hung up on me halfway through the conversation. So I got the hint that he wants to do his own thing.”
Rammstein’s attempt at using porn to court controversy seems to have paid off where it mattered most to them – their new album Liebe ist Fur Alle Da has been banned from public display in their home nation Germany. Authorities say the tracks Ich tue Dir Weh (I Want to Hurt You) and Pussy set bad examples to young people, encouraging perverted acts and unprotected sex. The album can no longer be advertised or displayed in public. That appears to be what the band wanted to happen...

Ray Davies says a new Kinks album might be on the cards for next year, and might include work by his brother Dave. He tells Billboard: “We’ve got four or five new songs. I’m just getting the guys motivated and seeing what they’re playing like – it’s been eight or nine years. We’ll see how Dave reacts to it. He was quite seriously ill but we’re in communication. We’re not disregarding it yet.”
Queen drummer Roger Taylor says the band are now considering working with Americal Idol contestant Adam Lambert. After he performed with them on the show rumours were rife that something was in the works, but Brian May said no. Now Taylor says: “Brian and I would like to do something with him. He has one of the greatest voices I’ve ever heard.”
Killing Joke will play two UK shows next year: Edinburgh Picture House on April 15 and London Hammersmith Apollo on April 16.
Steve Grimmett tells Classic Rock Magazine he was on the shortlist to join Iron Maiden after Bruce Dickinson left in 1993. He says: “I sent them a demo but never heard anything back, then I heard Blaze Bayley had the job. But afterwards their manager, Rod Smallwood, told me I’d made top five on their shortlist.” Well, Rock Radio knows Doogie White of Rainbow was near the top too… Wonder who the other two were?
